can someone tell me what is better taekwondo or karate? or does someone know of a better marcial art?|||One is not better than the other.

If you are trying to decide between taking TKD or taking Karate, I would advise you to choose based on the school, instructor, flexibility of schedule, location, not on the style.
See if they let you do a trial class in each and then pick which one you like best.
Good luck.
James|||do you want to do a kind of sporty martial art that is pretty much only usefull in tournaments etc. or do you want to learn self defense? like a bar fight or beeing held up etc.|||This question all depends on who you are. Meaning what do you what to get out of the time that you will put in to doing your art. Both are fine style to learn but I would go with TKD if it is your first time. The reason why is Karate has more hand techniques then TKD and in my experience they are one of the harder parts of the style to learn.
But if you are not just starting in martial arts then take your pick because they are very similar to each other.
Good luck I hope you find what you are looking for.|||Well, I really would like to say TKD (i do WTF TKD) but as others have sayd, its hard to find a place which teaches you how to use TKD in the streets (my instructor also knows muay thai thats why). If its your first martial art, go to karate, most karate places are not mcdojos and its more street effective. but im not saying there arent any karate places that arent mcdojo. really, if you cant decide, then go to the dojos your interested in, compare the cost, the instructors, and see a class or two. If you feel that the students in the class are good, or seem to know what their doing, then join that place. If they seem like they cant tell a cresent kick from a hook kick, then dont join. Also compare rates, and dont think because one place is more expensive than another it means that the quality of instruction is better, price almost never plays a part in the quality of instruction.|||It really depends on what you like. Both are well established and very good form of self defense and work out. i would say the main difference is TKD has much more jumping and spinning kicks than karate. (probably more exciting to watch for competition as well)
why not try out both for a while and decide later?|||Arts dont win fights or defend you, YOU DO! You Utilize the art, you defend yourself. So both those arts are great but its hard to find a good legit TKD dojo considering there are alot of TKD mcdojos. I would go for karate. Its really hard to find a legit TKD place. But always remember there is no best art.
