Im a black belt and am told im rather fast but i want to be even faster and more explosive with my kicks |||The 3 %26quot;P%26quot;s...
Practice
Patience
Perseverance.
%26quot;Explosive%26quot; is not a factor in any of the EXTERNAL martial arts.
At best it is a misnomer.
You need to practice the INTERNAL martial arts and master the Fajin.|||Being a black belt means you are already stronger, faster, and more powerful than most people. This makes you perfect for a certain western scientific training method used by many athletes.
Borrow a training method from your ITF counterparts: PLYOMETRICS! This technique has been used successfully by Olympic athletes such as Steven Lopez for developing raw speed and explosive power.
Imagine a rubber band. If you stretch it out and let it loose, it will snap violently due to the elastic properties of the band. Your muscles have the same elastic property, where a %26quot;pre-stretch%26quot; phase can increase speed and power during your action phase.
Do some googling on Plyometrics and try to find sample training programs. You should know more than I do about Tae Kwon Do, and I don%26#039;t want to recommend anything to you that%26#039;s already below your skill level. :)
|||I suggest learning Bruce Lee%26#039;s burning kicks. These types of kicks are executed from the lead leg and are harder to block. Try this: make a sound with your voice as short and as fast as you can. Once you can make the sound in about 1/10 of a second, try executing a kick from the floor, out to the target and then back to the floor in the time it takes you to make the sound. All blocks, kicks and strikes should be automatic and without much thought.|||Practice. Its the muscles in your leg that determine your speed. So work those muscles out. Dont go heavy weight, go many reps with low weight. You want to also minimize the weight of your actual leg. Your thighs can hold alot of fat and such that can slow you down. Work that off.|||do a couple hundred kicks everyday
also you dont need to add WTF to tae kwon do every time really ITF and WTF are pretty much the same except one is more sport. the basics are exactly the same.|||do 10 sets of 50 kicks to your back for each leg that should do it||| kick 1000. times a day you will get faster. sandman|||ankle weights
