How long does it take to get your black belt in itf taekwondo?

I am a yellow belt tkd how long will it take to get a black not dan just black|||2-5 years

i was black belt in TKD and currently Black belt in Kendo.

First.. who is your teacher? (what race)

im asking this because many teachers(masters) are korean and not to be racist but it is said that many american masters just cheat their students off. (steal money and teach nothing useful)

Second ... how many belts and how long did it take you to get to yellow belt

Mine had many belts / stripes so mine took longer and was harder for me.

I suggest you going to many tournaments because they help you advance in TKD|||A big minimum of 3 years if someone trains year long. But a school that produces black belt with fewer years is not worth to be called ITF school.

A more serious place would be around 4-5 years. Not only you learn the good basics and at that point can do decent kicks but also you build training and learning history.

It took me 6-7 years (can%26#039;t recall exactly) to get my black belt. But when I did I had no shame to say I was a black belt by the physical standards and that I knew all what a black belt is required to learn.

If you ever hear about a place where they give black belt under 3 years please let me know and I will write to the ITF governing body to file a complain. Those people are destroying our reputation and I%26#039;ll do everything I can to fight against it.

EDIT:

Unfortunately for color belt there is no minimum time requirement requested from the ITF governing body, unlike the black belt Dans. What that means is that if your instructor is at least 4th Dan he can in theory gives you the black belt right away without any tests if he wishes to. My previous answer was based on my opinion and what I鈥檝e seen around. Some school gets exam every month, other every 3 or 2 times a year. It really depends of the 4th Dan examiner. Personally, they should have a mandatory time requirement of 5 years before you get the black belt but it wouldn鈥檛 work much in our fast food business oriented world鈥?br>

By the way, there is no orange belt in ITF TKD鈥?br>

P.S. You get your first Dan automatically when you become a black belt.|||It depends. There are some places that do not offer belts and are simply there to learn not gain status. And the one closest to me basically depended on how much money you had determined how quickly you got your belts(rip off). But my friend got his black belt in Tae Kwondo about 2 years after he first got his uniform.|||Depends, personally it took me from second grade to eighth....hehe, a long time eh? but i mean you could turn this into math. How many belts have you got so far? How long did it take you. Lets say you got 3 belts in 2 years and there are 9 belts in all, then it takes 6 years till your black belt (:|||If you are of average fitness probably 2yrs, that%26#039;s taekwondo for you. I think its **** because black belts should be awesome. You are not awesome after 2yrs i think it should have to take 5 years at least to get a black belt.|||On average, it takes 3 years from when you first start, unless of course you take break. Of course once you reach black belt, you have 8 more to archive and most people who try never make it to 9th degree|||It will take a while i just got my orange... It will take as long as you and the masters determine it.. how hard you train will determine how much better you get and whether you deserve to rank up or not it really depends on you though|||It depends if your school is actually teaching tae kwon do (3-4 years),

or if it is a belt factory (how much money you are willing to pay).|||1 year at a crap school

2-3 years at an ok school

4+ at a good school|||it takes lots of black eyes and lots of years|||If you test everytime it will take at least a year and 1/2|||it takes about 3 years for karate|||it depends on your performance, you really have to earn it!
