Is itf taekwondo or kickboxing best to learn for self defence?

which is best to learn for self defence kickboxing or itf taekwondo?|||self defense take time to learn. one style is not better then the other. but some do take longer to learn self defense in.

for any style you need a good instructor, and a lot of practice. you need to pick a style you feel most comfortable in|||I take taekwondo and we learn how to block which is most important first your not looking to fight your looking to defend yourself. If you have to though we learn punches and kicks as well. I don%26#039;t know much about kickboxing though. You should go into different schools that has kickboxing and taekwondo and ask the grandmaster if you can watch a class. Where I am we learn taekwondo but kickboxing is a part of it as well.|||Depends on the school. Remember that self-defense involves applying force to vulnerable spots as quickly as possible: kick/punch to balls, eye gouges, throat attacks, easily executed joint locks, and biting to name a few. If either the kickboxing or tkd school tries to show you something that doesn%26#039;t seem very practical to you, odds are it is a sport school and not a self-defense school.|||Tae kwon do its the best, gets you do stressed and learn how to defened your self. we learn kicks, punches, blocks, and geting fit at the same time. i argree you are not looking to fight if you are attacked, you are looking to block them hurting you, then wind them by punching the logo of your uniform not chest or tummy, so it really hurts winding them then run :))))))))))))))))))|||I have fought in matches before and I think that kickboxing is a better fighting style. Taekwondo is an entertaining fighting style but not really made for a real fight. In MMA fights I love to see a guy try to throw some taekwondo kicks because that is an invitation to knock them out or slam them on their heads. Kickboxing is more suited for MMA or a street fight. |||Tae kwon do is mainly about kicks and BASIC punches and blocks.

seriously, if you%26#039;re in a street fight what are you going to do? strattle your legs and form up for a left hand block while he%26#039;s already attacking you? Or are you going to put your hands up ready to defend quickly, and throws jabs and counters while evading his punches and then using kicks to weaken his legs.

Tae Kwon Do sucks

learn anything but tkd|||tae kwon do is mostly for sport and competition, not very effective for self defense compared to other styles (kenpo, karate, jui jistsu, aikido, etc). don%26#039;t know much about kickboxing but if you have to choose between the 2 choose kickboxing|||if self defense is what you seek.......then it is something you already have....instincts you know.

unfortunately, wether you choose ITF or KB you will be forced to pratctice competition style only. i used to be a ( What The F****) practicioner and i think its best to have your own way.

Do both buddy....but use neither...use yours |||I don%26#039;t think there is much difference between either of them. Tae Kwon Do has punching, kicking, elbows, knees, blocks, etc. I%26#039;ve never taken kickboxing, but I doubt it could have more than TKD.|||I love kickboxing and we learn some self-defence in it aswell.

Not sure aobut taekwondo but i%26#039;d definitely reccommend kickboxing :) x.|||any martial art/sport would be fine for self defense, its weather you are willing to apply the techniques you have learnt in a real life pressure situation|||http://allanswers.isgreat.org

you can get much information in this website,If you will check anyone link in website

|||tae-kwon do is fantastic for self defence|||If you get attacked just pick up the nearest, heaviest object and start swinging it (i.e. chair, brick whatever).|||i learnt Tae-Kwon-Do and i managed to fight off 2 people at once who were both older than me|||Kickboxing is my pick because it has a combo of punching, kicking, strength etc while Taekwondo is just kicking. If a skilled all round figher challenges a taekwondo specialist, kicking alone will not save you.
